Welcome to Le Prieuré au Château de Biron

The Dordogne is one of the most beautiful destinations in France, and for good reason. It is overflowing with castle crowned bluffs and ancient , lazy rivers, prehistoric sites, world famous cuisine, good weather, and so much more. All this makes the location of Le Prieuré au Château de Biron all the more enticing. Located in the shadows of the massive castle, Le Prieuré was built for 6 priests by the Baron who owned the castle. Rumor has it a secret passage way leads from the castle directly to the B&B. Who knows, maybe you can discover the secret door.

The château itself stands on a high point in the village of Biron just across from Le Prieuré. The vast fortress changed hands often between English and French, and was owned by 14 generations of the Gontaut-Biron family until the State took it over in the 20th century. The nearby fortified market town of Monpazier built in 1284 is only 8 kilometers away and boasts several good restaurants, bakeries, a weekly market and the world famous cepes (mushroom) market in the fall, as well as the convivial medieval festival each summer.
